The Government of Saint Lucia is exhibiting its commitment to ensuring schools on the island are given the best environment in which to operate. 

Minister in the Ministry of Education, Honourable Danny Butcher toured a numbe of schools in the south of the island to get a feel of the enthusiasm within the school population at the start of a new school term.

A delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Education, headed by newly-appointed Minister Hon. Kenson Casimir has successfully conducted a tour of schools in Education District ONe, which saw them visit nine schools in one day.

Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Rural Development advanced a bold and coordinated agenda focused on food security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. During this period, the ministry notes an increase in people having respiratory viruses. Therefore, residents are urged to take proactive steps to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses such as washing hands frequently, avoiding close contact with individuals who are sick, wearing a mask, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, cleaning and disinfecting commonly touched spaces and getting vaccinated.

This year, there was a call for countries to acknowledge the challenges that persist while recommitting to bold, transformative action to end AIDS as a public health threat. In 2024 in Saint Lucia, 35 new HIV infections were recorded, and to date in 2025, 17 new cases have been documented—figures that will continue to evolve as surveillance improves.
