The 4th Amendment - which protects US citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government - has exceptions.  One of these exceptions is CONSENT!  Most police think of the 4th Amendment to apply to searches.  Think also of seizures of persons.

If you forcibly stop someone - blue lights, sirens, commands, handcuffs - you have seized their body.  If they consent to speaking with you...you're good!

Arguably this most challenged exception to the 4th amendment.  You can absolutely search someone's phone / house / car / person / Instagram / etc if you are given a VALID and VOLUNTARY consent.  Listen to this to expand your knowledge on what the rules are, and how to avoid having a bunch of evidence suppressed in court.
