Episode 88: Dante's Peak featuring Courtney Collins
Jan 11, 2026Friend of the show Courtney Collins is here to usher us out of the holidays and onto Dante’s Peak (1997). One shouldn’t stay long on Dante’s Peak the mountain or in Dante’s Peak the town because one or both is going to erupt in this Roger Donaldson disaster picture that shouldn’t be confused with Volcano (1997). This is the one where Peirce Brosnan has a strong feeling that the plot is going to happen and only mayor Linda Hamilton believes him. This film, pun intended, is a blast and constantly outdoes itself with scene after scene that makes ev...
Duration: 01:28:40Episode 87: Our Best Bad Movie of 2025 Special, Primitive War
Jan 04, 2026It’s time, once again, to pick Our Favorite Bad Movie of the Year and it’s no secret; it’s Primitive War (2025). This low-budget, sci-fi actioner is directed by Luke Sparke and stars Jeremy Piven, Trisha Helfer and Ryan Kwanten. It centers around a war-worn unit of soldiers who are sent into the heart of the Vietnam to find out what happened to a lost unit and it turns out that the answers is… dinosaurs! Do we need to say more? Action packed and seriously full of dinosaurs, this film never relents in giving you what you want (dinosaurs) a...
Duration: 01:22:37Episode 86: Mixed Nuts featuring Mallory and Rebekah Rine
Dec 28, 2025Honorary employees Mallory and Rebekah Rine are extending the holidays here at the podcast and they’ve brought Mixed Nuts (1994) to pass. This Nora Ephron directed remake of a French film that translates to Santa Claus is a Stinker stars Steve Martin, Madeline Kahn, Rita Wilson and too many others to list. It follows the “dark” adventures of non-profit workers being evicted for not making profits, and it’s Christmas Eve! Landing like a year-old fruit cake on the unsuspecting masses, most dodged it and the critics weren’t kind. Still, it’s a classic holiday snack for the Rines, but will...
Duration: 01:21:57Episode 85: Dear Santa
Dec 21, 2025It’s the last of our Employee Picks for the Holidays and Anna has a sweet treat for us all, Dear Santa (2011). This Jason Priestley directed Lifetime movie stars Amy Acker as a woman desperate for a job or a man by Christmas Day. Intercepting a child’s letter to a Santa seeking a wife for her father, Acker proceed to stalk and then work for the man she’s pining for. Will they or won’t they? Can they save the non-profit soup kitchen from the bank? Will little Olivia get a wife for her father that isn’t Jillian? Y...
Duration: 01:19:08Episode 84: Ernest Saves Christmas
Dec 14, 2025Our Holiday Employee Picks continue and Greg’s pick is another with Christmas in peril; it’s Ernest Saves Christmas (1988). Jim Varney plays our titular character and he needs to help Santa find a replacement before we all lose Christmas FOREVER. Get ready to see Ernest rip the wiring out of a wall, Reindeer walk on the ceiling and Santa confront his own failing mind. It’s heartwarming, has just the right amount of that classic Ernest shtick, and has many pleasant surprises. Then everyone will propose a concept for a new Ernest film, so it is a Happy Holiday. ...
Duration: 01:22:08Episode 83: The Boy Who Saved Christmas
Dec 06, 2025It’s that time of year again and Chris is kicking off our Holiday Employee Picks with The Boy Who Saved Christmas (1998). Despite the title, it’s actually about Santa’s adventures in LA dealing with amnesia all while trying to get back to the North Pole to save his wife from the clutches of his evil brother. That’s correct: we’ve got a love triangle involving the Clauses. There’s also henchmen that aren’t elves, email and lasers. It’s not a stretch to say that this movie is kind of nuts. In other words, it’s the perfect holiday t...
Duration: 01:22:43Episode 82: North featuring Lucy Valentine
Nov 30, 2025Lucy Valentine, host of the podcasts Boonta Vista and Savant Garde, is in the guest seat today and we’re excited to talk to her because she’s brought North (1994). This Rob Reiner adaption of a young adult book stars Elijah Wood, Bruce Willis and too many others to list. Despite all that talent on screen, the film did not land well, famously inspiring Roger Ebert’s hatred. It’s a film for the neglected child in all of us while being full of adult humor and some very bizarre choices. All in all, it got us all talking and inspire...
Duration: 01:26:47Episode 81: Barbie as Rapunzel featuring Manolo Moreno and Melisande Osnes
Nov 23, 2025Manolo Moreno, host of Dr. Gameshow, is back and with him is Melisande Osnes who’s calling at the bottom of a tower for Barbie as Rapunzel (2002). But Barbie will not let that hair down (don’t hold your breath), because this CGI family tale is about painting and being yourself, even if that means that you can’t tell anyone who you are. It’s not what you’d expect and sits squarely in the uncanny valley. Come for the life lessons, stay to watch a poorly animated otter/weasel coil around Anjelica Houston’s character’s neck. It’s unforgettable...
Duration: 01:32:26Episode 80: Girls Just Want to Have Fun featuring Molly Rich
Nov 16, 2025Molly Rich, a friend of the show, has got us out of horror-fueled haze with the breath of fresh air that is Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985). Inspired by the popular song by Cyndi Lauper, it follows the exploits of new girl Sarah Jessica Parker who befriends Helen Hunt as they both attempt to get a part on Dance TV, all while navigating catholic school, an angry father, boys and nerves. Jonathan Silverman and Shannen Doherty are in the mix, too. It’s a good-hearted, fun coming-of-age film that can’t decide if it’s sexual or not, but who...
Duration: 01:27:46Episode 79: My Father the Hero featuring Ethan Sarezky
Nov 09, 2025Ethan Sarezky, America’s foremost expert on collectible VHS tapes, is in the studio to talk about, and I can’t believe I’m typing this, My Father the Hero (1994). Part of a wave of French remakes in the 90s, this film is about a young Katherine Heigl convincing an entire resort that her father, played by “complicated” actor Gerard Depardieu, is actually her boyfriend just to make someone else jealous. It’s full of puzzling, if not upsetting choices, and leaves one with many questions and concerns, but we’re doing out best to field that. Spoiler alert, listening is bett...
Duration: 01:39:01Episode 78: Evil Bong featuring Kennedy Cooper
Nov 02, 2025Finally, the leaves are changing color, Kennedy Cooper, host of the podcast The Most Important Election of Our Lives is here, and we’re getting the pumpkin spice lattes out for… Evil Bong(2006)? While it may sound like a horror film (and it is), this Charles Band directed effort is more of stoner comedy that’s a love letter the Full Moon universe that also has a bong puppet and Tommy Chong in it. Despite the fact that a good portion of the film takes place in the nightmarish strip club that Kennedy calls “bong world” the film feels much closer...
Duration: 01:29:25Episode 77 Conquest featuring Merritt K
Oct 26, 2025Our final episode of Spoooooky Season is here and writer/editor/gamer Merritt K is back to throw open the doors of the haunted house that is Conquest (1983). Not a typical horror film, but a gory, phantasmagorical, fantasy epic directed by famed Italian director Lucio Fulci. A gauzy, meandering yarn of young demi-god(?) who brings the mind-boggling tech of a bow and arrow to a “primitive” people, which really freaks out the nude, mask-wearing woman who has dominion over therm. It’s a lot of people in prosthetics, fog and arresting imagery and a pretty solid time with others, so tune i
Duration: 01:22:40Episode 76: Graveyard Shift featuring Christy Admiraal
Oct 19, 2025Friend of the show Christy Admiraal is here for Week Three of the Spoooooktacular and she’s brought up something mysterious from the basement, it’s Graveyard Shift (1990). This Ralph S. Singleton film was based on a Stephen King short story and contains, if briefly, the enigmatic Brad Dourif. It’s both a horror film and a slice-of-life film that both contain lots of rats. One works better than the other, but that’s not exactly a compliment, though we all agree it has a certain charm. And lots of thick, questionable accents. And cute rats! Anyways, shifts startin’, better punch in...
Duration: 01:19:55Episode 75: The Last Horror Film featuring Dais Johnston
Oct 12, 2025Our spooktacular continues with journalist Dais Johnston whose got an especially wicked treat in their goody bag, The Last Horror Film (1982). From former song-and-dance-man David Winters, it’s many things and one of those things is a meta-horror film about Joe Spinell’s Vinny stalking Caroline Munro’s famous scream queen Jana Bates at Cannes. It was filmed guerilla style in France, has a cast of friends and (probably) people just found on the street and it’s full of inexplicable nudity and montages. Sometimes the last two are even combined. Anyway you slice it, this horror film got our attentio...
Duration: 01:16:01Episode 74: Student Bodies featuring Kate Bellock
Oct 05, 2025Spooooooky season is here and so is our dear friend Kate Bellock. This librarian is kicking off our spook-tacular by taking us to Horror School with Student Bodies (1981) a horror-comedy parody of slasher films. Directed by Mickey Rose and staring a bunch of unknowns (including an unforgettable unknown called The Stick), it skewers many tropes of the genre all while flinging jokes at such a rapid pace that it’s hard to linger on the ones that don’t land. All in all, it’s a pretty good time, so tune in!
Duration: 01:11:13Episode 73: Gamer featuring Max Graves
Sep 28, 2025Max Graves, cartoonist behind What Happens Next, drops round to our server and has something to stream, it’s Gamer (2009). The penultimate feature of the directing duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, it stars Gerard Butler taking cover, has Michael C. Hall doing an accent and has Kyra Sedgewick, Jon Lequizamo and Terry Cruise as a TV anchor, a target and a homicidal maniac respectively. It’s stupid, with hard to follow action, but it’s still compelling in its own way. Both full of Bad Things and Good Things, it begs conversation, so tune in!
Duration: 01:23:18Episode 72: Screamers featuring Matt Finnegan
Sep 21, 2025Matt Finnegan is back with another 90s sci-fi “classic”, Screamers (1995). Peter Weller is our main star in this dystopian, sci-fi, horror film which is based on a Phillip K. Dick short story and written by Dan O’Bannon (Alien). That’s a strong start, but the finishing touches of another writer punching up the dialogue, O’Bannon having no idea it was being made, and the direction of our first returning director, Christian Duguay, leaves an acrid taste. At least it’s really interesting and has some strong visuals? We’ll break it all down, so tune in!
Duration: 01:45:37Episode 71: Quigley featuring Sara Lautman
Sep 14, 2025Sara Lautman, New Yorker published cartoonist, has taken a chance on Quigley (2003) and struck gold. This one isn’t Tom Selleck in Australia, or whatever, this is the one that has Gary Busey come back from death as a white Pomeranian who expressly can’t talk. Can Busey/Dog change hearts? He certainly won all of us over and it’s got us talking; we even get a bit existential. It’s a journey of discovery as we ponder life with a dog/man who can save the day by playing video games. Be sure to tune in!
Duration: 01:30:44Episode 70: Terror in the Aisles featuring David Weiner
Sep 07, 2025David Weiner, director of the In Search of Darkness series of documentaries, is in the studio and they’ve brought something very unique: Terror in the Aisles (1984). Far ahead of its time, it’s a compilation of "terror films" from cinema’s past that has Donald Pleasence and Nancy Allen narrating from the audience, watching the films we’re watching. Very meta, and full of so many great films! We’ll talk all about it with David AND we'll discuss his newest film, In Search of Darkness 1995-1999. It’s not one to miss, so tune in!
Duration: 01:24:44Episode 69: Creepshow 2 featuring Trevor Henderson
Aug 31, 2025Trevor Henderson, author of Scarewaves: Beyond the Grave and creator of Sirenhead, is sitting down with Chris and Anna to access a nostalgic pick, Creepshow 2 (1987). George Romero and Stephen King have smaller, behind the scenes roles in this anthology horror film sequel than it's predecessor. It also had fewer stories, included some terrible animations and had Tom Savini appears in a mask, so you can’t tell it’s him. Despite all of questionable choices, everyone agrees that one section is one of the strongest pieces of horror cinema every recorded. Tune in to hear all about it!
Duration: 01:22:44Episode 68: The Devil's Advocate featuring Yennaedo Balloo
Aug 24, 2025Yennaedo Balloo, host of the DnD Versus podcast, has the crew revisiting a cable staple, The Devil’s Advocate (1997). This faustian horror has Keaunu Reeves as a lawyer taken under the wing of Al Pacino’s Devil, all while ignoring his wife, Charlize Theron, who’s having her own set of problems. Often gory and intense, too long, and full of scenery chewing it’s obviously gotten high ratings from the entire panel. Spoiler Alert, everyone will attempt a Pacino Impression, so tune in!
Duration: 01:36:12Episode 67: Popcorn featuring Larry Brown
Aug 17, 2025Friend of the podcast Larry Brown has brought something tasty for the panel, it’s Popcorn (1991). Mark Herrier directed this meta-horror film that had a cast of largely unknown “teens” with veterans Dee Wallace, Tony Roberts, Tom Villard and Ray Walston rounding out the roster. Ostensibly the story of a killer stalking a film festival, it also contains segments of four other fictional movies that make light of classic horror films and audiences. It all adds up to a heady mix of horror, comedy and commentary, if that’s your thing. And you’ll only find out… if you’re brave enough to
Duration: 01:21:31Episode 66: Batman and Robin featuring MB
Aug 10, 2025Co-host of The Tasting Menu podcast, MB, is swooping into the studio this week and they’ve brought friends, namely Batman & Robin (1997). Joel Schumacher is making bold directorial choices, Uma Thurman and Arnold Schwarzenegger are gladly chewing scenery, Chris O’Donnell is back and petulant, and George Clooney and Alicia Silverstone are certainly reading their lines in this over-the-top cartoon of a film. It swings at comedy, adventure and raw sexuality, but does it succeed? You already know that it doesn’t, so tune in.
Duration: 01:27:03Episode 65: Moonwalker featuring Josh Boerman
Aug 03, 2025Josh Boerman, co-host of the podcasts Ill Conceived and The Worst of All Possible Worlds, is with us today and he’s brought the musical anthology film Moonwalker (1988). It’s a complicated film from a complicated star: Michael Jackson. While not having a narrative throughout the whole piece, the Smooth Criminal segment does spin a very strange tale and contains a well-known music video (which also gets a little weird). It’s certainly a film and a person that has us talking, so tune in!
Duration: 01:21:15Episode 64: Nothing But Trouble featuring Bitter Karella
Jul 27, 2025Bitter Karella, author of the new splatterpunk novel Moonflow, is in the courthouse and they’re presenting Nothing But Trouble (1991). Dan Aykroyd directs and appears in this over-the-top horror-comedy along with John Candy, Chevy Chase, and Demi Moore. Aykroyd is an evil judge, Candy plays dual roles, Chase is an asshole, Moore is doing her best and there are two, big oily babies for some reason. It’s a strange one that inspires strong reactions and we’re pleading our cases. You can be in the jury box, just tune in!
Duration: 01:35:44Episode 63: Future Cops featuring Gloria Yip
Jul 20, 2025Discord Dawg Gloria Yip joins us to discuss the Hong Kong cult-classic Future Cops (1993). This Wong Jing action-comedy is in the tradition of Airplane!, but is the story of three officers from the future trying to save a judge. The crucial thing to know, though, is that most of the characters are actually fighters from the video game Street Figther 2. It’s gonna get strange, it’s gonna get zany, and it’s gonna be the next thing you want to see. Tune in to find out why!
Duration: 01:22:19Episode 62: Picture Perfect
Jul 13, 2025Anna is up to bat for our last employee pick and the choice is Picture Perfect (1997). After lying about being engaged just to get a promotion, Jennifer Aniston finds that her web of deception might also land her Kevin Bacon in the process. Which is weird because the audience should be rooting for her to get together with faux-fiance Jay Mohr, but it’s a confused Rom Com. While it was profitable, it was certainly not indelible in any way and we’ll get into it all today, so tune in!
Duration: 01:14:56Ep 61: City Dragon
Jul 06, 2025Chris has our second Employee Pick with an obscure, kung-fu drama: City Dragon (1995). Directed by Philly native (we assume) “Philthy” Phil Phillips and starring MC Kung Fu, this is a homegrown effort that also has some musical numbers in it. No one’s calling it a musical, however, nor does anyone really know what to call it other than Pure Entertainment. It takes a wild second act swerve and is domestically intense. Also, Chris has found a shocking origin story, so be sure to tune in!
Duration: 01:23:28Episode 60: Xanadu
Jun 29, 2025It's time for Employee Picks and Greg’s up first with the bonkers musical Xanadu(1980). Despite the talents of Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly, Michael Beck and also many others behind the scenes, this mash-up of big band music and the roller-disco fad landed with a resounding thud. However, ELO’s contribution would drive the soundtrack to platinum in multiple countries, searing this camp classic into the collective unconscious. And into our hearts! Tune in
Duration: 01:30:36Episode 59: The 13th Warrior featuring Alice Ebenhoe
Jun 22, 2025Alice Ebenhoe is back and has brought in another historical adventure film: The 13th Warrior (1999). This one stars Antonio Banderas and pretty much nobody else, though it was directed by McTiernan and is based on a Crichton novel. It’s a plausible (but fictional) retelling of the origin of the epic poem Beowulf from a spectator’s point of view. Audiences didn’t take to a film whose main character isn’t the story’s main character, but it certainly is an entertaining revisit for the panel. It’s full of laughs and we have our first tiebreaker, so tune in
Duration: 01:16:05Episode 58: Playing With Fire featuring Michael Darling
Jun 15, 2025Michael Darling is back and he’s brought in a barnburner: Playing With Fire (1985). This, frankly wild, made-for-TV message film stars Gary Coleman as a young, troubled arsonist. Mr. Coleman burns down a number of things, Cicely Tyson chews through a therapist’s office, Yaphet Kotto doesn’t need warrants, because he’s the fire chief and then Ron O’Neal eventually becomes something similar to sympathetic. Once forgotten (or perhaps buried) this film was mysteriously uploaded to YouTube and now it lives in our brains rent free. But I do hear sirens, so maybe tune in…
Duration: 01:40:07Episode 57: Megalopolis featuring Al Bates
Jun 08, 2025Al Bates is back in the hot seat and he’s brought a giant conundrum of a film: the 2024 flop that is Megalopolis. This film took 40 years to come to the big screen and it was completely funded by Francis Ford Coppola himself. The cast is packed as well with Adam Driver Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Giancarlo Esposito and far too many more to list. Driver stops time, LaBeouf shaved his eyebrows, and the podcast crew is largely perplexed. It’s a hippodrome of bonkers imagery and you won’t want to miss this one, so tune in!
Duration: 01:30:51Episode 56: Human Highway featuring Preston Spurlock
Jun 01, 2025Preston Spurlock is back with another rare gem, the passion project/musical Human Highway (1982). This Neil Young and Dean Stockwell directed film also stars Dennis Hopper and Devo and is largely set in a diner. It’s hard to pin down: part music video, part comedy, part apocalypse film. It took decades for it to be released to a wider audience after puzzling viewers in the 80s and has certainly left an impression on the panel. Also, Anna peels back the veil on one of Neil Young’s most infamous albums, so tune in!
Duration: 01:24:33Episode 55: Paranormal Activity 4 with Brook Pridemore
May 25, 2025Anti-folk hero Brook Pridemore is with the crew this week and they’ve brought an entry from a now classic horror series, Paranormal Activity 4 (2012). This found-footage film stars Kathryn Newton and an Xbox Kinect Camera, and who can forget that demon child? It’s classic horror action as the panel cracks into the genre as a whole and takes a look into other documentary work by the directors. There’s no jump scares in this episode, so tune in…
Duration: 01:32:53Episode 54: Addicted to Murder 2: Tainted Blood featuring Peter Speer
May 18, 2025Musician and good friend of the show Pete Speer brings a forgotten video-store gem with Addicted to Murder 2: Tainted Blood. This shot-on-VHS horror movie from 1997 is thoughtfully made and inventive, but nearly impenetrable if you’ve not seen the first film and Chris and Greg haven’t. However, everyone enjoys it’s vibes-based plot, fun details and playful vampire lore. Then it’s a veritable who’s who of ‘97 talent as everyone recasts the film. Tune in to hear all about it!
Duration: 01:27:53Episode 53: Lady in the Water featuring Manolo Moreno
May 11, 2025Good friend and cohost of Dr. Gameshow Manolo Mareno stops in with a whopper of a tale: Lady in the Water (2006) by M. Night Shamalan. It’s a fantasy film in which Paul Giamatti stutters, Byrce Dallas Howard shivers, people prep for an eagle visit and they all use a lot of nonsense words. It’s also based on an improvised children’s story. Anna gives a detailed breakdown of production, and the crew has illuminating conversation about Night and his general vibe through their lives. It’s one for the (story)books, so tune in!

Duration: 01:46:55Episode 52: Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead featuring Stefa Nunes and Victoria
May 04, 2025Get ready because Your Favorite Bad Movie Podcast is celebrating its first anniversary and Stefa Nunes is back with a cable classic, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead (1991). Stefa’s brought a guest herself, Victoria, so it’s a full crew as they discuss how this Christina Applegate vehicle has somehow become a part of them all. And there’s a new game full of fun names. Join the celebration and tune in!
Duration: 01:45:21Episode 51: Money Plane featuring Mark Hensley
Apr 27, 2025Good friend of the podcast Mark Hensley talks with Chris and Greg about the 2020 action thriller Money Plane. It contains all three Lawrence brothers (with Andrew directing), Kelsey Grammer, Thomas Jane, Denise Richards and WWE’s The Edge (Adam Copeland). It delights Chris, exasperates Mark and confuses Greg so it’s largely a success. It also sends Chris down an interesting rabbit hole. Tune in to see if you’ll follow.
Duration: 01:24:02Episode 50: Southland Tales featuring Saul Rosenbear
Apr 20, 2025Raconteur Saul Rosenbear has brought in a doozy today for Chris, Anna and Greg. It’s a confusing yarn from 2006 called Southland Tales. A film starring the Rock, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Justin Timberlake and many others in a plot that involves energy as drugs, constipation and the Iraq war, amongst so many other things. This follow-up to Donny Darko didn’t land with quite the same impact, but it still leaves an impression. Tune in to find out what kind.
Duration: 01:47:16Episode 49: Twisted Pair featuring Grant Levron
Apr 13, 2025Burgeoning filmmaker Grant Levron takes the podcast to new teritorty: the cinematic mind of Neil Breen. This film this week is Twisted Pair (2018) and it's said to have a plot, but it's actually just made of stock footage and confidence. Also, Chris is a true hero and braves the five-hour Neil Breen Five Film Retrospective. Don't do that to yourself, just tune in.
Duration: 01:22:31Episode 48: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat featuring Kev Koeser
Apr 06, 2025Podcaster Extraordinaire Kev Koeser (Talking Trek to You, Total Massacre, Tasting Menu) is sitting down with the crew to spotlight Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1999). This Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical stars Donny Osmond as the titular Joseph, but the narrator should be mentioned as she’s maybe the most important character in the film. And our intrepid crew tries to break down why ALW seems to be a part of us all for some reason. Learn something about yourself and tune in.
Duration: 01:16:18Episode 47: The Covenant featuring Steph Metzger
Mar 30, 2025Real person and talking hat Steph Metzger has brought in The Covenant (2006). It’s the story of four New England witch boys who mostly look pretty and perform parlor tricks with their addictive powers. There’s also a young Sebastion Stan in the mix. Not much occurs, but that doesn’t stop the panel from constantly plumbing its depths in search of something. What did they find… Shared joy. You can have some too, so tune in!
Duration: 01:30:49Episode 46: Sinbad of the Seven Seas Featuring Andy Rocco
Mar 23, 2025Comedy Dynamo and all-around good guy Andy Rocco has brought to the podcast a piece of himself in the form of Sinbad of the Seven Seas (1989). This classic tale of high-seas adventure claims to be based on a story by one Edgar Allen Poe. That’s not verifiable, but the fact that it was once four hours long shines through. Is it a beautiful fever dream or a slow-motion nightmare? Tune in to find out…

Duration: 01:46:13Episode 45: Cool as Ice featuring Tyrice Nock
Mar 16, 2025Chris and Greg welcome Tyrice Nock to the podcast and he’s brought a childhood favorite, Cool As Ice (1991). It’s a film about Vanilla Ice finding love in small-town America with plenty of musical numbers and some serious cinematography. A movie for the Vanilla Ice fan and small boy that exists inside us all. Tune in and then regress to childhood with the crew when we watch it this Thursday on the discord.
Duration: 01:29:15Episode 44: Rhinestone featuring Shelly Walston
Mar 09, 2025Returning guest Shelly Walston has brought a surprise for Chris and Greg: the 1984 film Rhinestone starring Dolly Parton and Sly Stallone. Never heard of this Romantic Comedy Musical? There are many good reasons for that which will all be discussed. The film certainly inspires lots of lively discussion, largely about Sylvester Stallone and his choices. It’s full of good conversation, information and laughter. Be sure to tune in.
Duration: 01:25:21Episode 43: Get Over It featuring Julie Setting
Mar 02, 2025Chris, Anna and Greg sit-in with our favorite sex therapist, Julie Setting, who has brought Get Over It (2001) to discuss. It’s a horny, maximalist, teen rom-com that was part of the larger Shakespeare-to-screen trend of the 90s and beyond. It’s also full of surprises, strong performances and a loaded cast including Kirsten Dunst and Ben Foster. Don’t let this one slip under your radar; tune in!

Feb 23, 2025Tyler, from Skylight Books' Better Than The Movie Podcast, joins Chris, Anna and Greg and they unravel the conundrum that is Gotti (2018). Is there something in John Travolta’s mouth? How many dead people's clothes are worn in the film? How did this even get made? Are these reviews honest? Who’s the real villain here? Tune in for a lot of laughs and good amount of speculation. Long Live John Gotti.
Duration: 01:23:57Episode 41: Mr. No Legs featuring Toby Goodshank
Feb 16, 2025Chris and Greg are joined by long-time collaborator and friend Toby Goodshank, who shines a light on the unfortunately forgotten Mr. No Legs (1978). It's a film that holds many delightful surprises, just like Mr. No Legs hides the shotguns in his wheelchair. It’s a quadruple-barrel blast of action and fun that’s definitely not depressing, or at least only depressing in that distinctly 70's way. And just who are these Danger Angels? Tune in and then join us Sunday for a screening of Mr. No Legs-- it's not to be missed.

Duration: 01:13:41Episode 40: Shallow Hal featuring Briar Ripley Page and Flann Delaney
Feb 09, 2025Chris and Anna welcome fellow couple Briar Ripley Page and Flann Delaney to discuss their pick, the 2001 film “Shallow Hal.” This Romantic Comedy by the Farrelly brothers attempts to show that beauty is more than skin deep, by being not actually romantic, nor very funny, and reveling in only surface-level commentary and thought. So it’s pretty bad, but can we find some good in talking about it? Tune in to find out.
Duration: 01:36:19Episode 39: All Monsters Attack featuring Erin Finnegan
Feb 02, 2025Chris and Greg are joined by Erin Finnegan to talk about the Godzilla meta-movie, All Monsters Attack! The Big G takes on all your favorite Z-list monsters with the help of his son Minilla and a little boy who may be dreaming up the whole thing to grapple with Japan becoming an industrial hellscape filled with bullies and kidnappers! It's kaiju fun for all ages from Ishiro Honda, the director of the original Godzilla, and even though it was a flop at the time, we still love it. Tune in!
Duration: 01:17:36Episode 38: Canada's Worst Driver Season 9
Jan 26, 2025Chris and Anna sit down for the first ever Your Favorite Bad Reality Competition Show Special! We're talking about one of the greatest seasons of television ever made, Canada's Worst Driver Season 9. It's an obsession around the Andersen household and a long time comfort watch, so we're excited to share our thoughts with you guys! If you liked this change of subject matter, let us know and we'll make more and, if not, we're back to regular programming next week!
Duration: 01:30:45Episode 37: Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal
Jan 19, 2025Chris, Anna, and Greg visit an old favorite this week, Jorge Montesi's Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal! This was the first movie that we showed in our Discord, and it definitely won't be our last. It's an action movie that stars a noticeably Canadian Marilyn Manson pastiche Die Hard-ing his way through an air bus that has been taken over by an evil cult...and that's just the beginning of how crazy this movie is. Tune in!
Duration: 01:25:51Episode 36: Death Bed: The Bed That Eats featuring Josef Wakeman
Jan 12, 2025Chris and Greg are joined by special guest Josef Wakeman to talk about the lost and rediscovered classic, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats! Equal parts fairy tale and gore picture, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats is a true American original. It's the most beautiful film you'll ever see that features a bed that eats people and this is the best podcast you'll ever hear about it. That's a two-fer guarantee, so tune in!

Duration: 01:33:50Episode 34: Hackers featuring Noah Fulmor
Dec 29, 2024Chris, Greg, and Anna are joined by Noah Fulmor to talk about the hacking hagiography Hackers. You're going to want to download this to your jazz drives, because we're dropping a logic bomb straight into the kernel of the coolest of the 90's cyberthrillers. You could say that it hasn't aged well, but that implies that people liked it when it came out. Tune in, and HACK THE PLANET!
Duration: 01:41:18Episode 33: Miami Connection Featuring Michael Darling
Dec 22, 2024Chris and Greg are joined by the inimitable Michael Darling to talk about one of the great rediscovered American films, Miami Connection. Tae Kwon Do and Rock n' Roll combine to create pure cinema! We go long on Dragon Sound, the city of Orlando, and the music of Angelo Janotti. Miami Connection-heads, you don't want to miss it, and if you haven't seen Miami Connection, we'll tell you all about what you've been missing. Tune in!

Dec 14, 2024Chris, Anna, and Greg are joined by the original mad lad, Matt "Finny" Finnegan to talk about the lost and rediscovered time travel fantasy adventure, The Lords of Magick. Shot on BetaCam and starring a stage magician that never acted before again, The Lords of Magick is pure uncut, capital B "Bad Movie". Tune in, you don't want to miss it!

Duration: 01:41:37Episode 31: The Balcony featuring Mallory Rine
Dec 08, 2024Chris and Greg are joined by Mallory Rine to talk about the absurdist theater adaptation, The Balcony. If you're a fan of that episode of Columbo with Leonard Nimoy, you want won't to miss our discussion of the first time they played a cop and his quarry. Except this time, Shelly Winters is there, too, and she plays a madame at a fantastical bordello in the midst of a revolution! There's a lot going on!
Duration: 01:12:04Episode 30: Just Friends featuring Courtney Collins
Dec 01, 2024It's our first ever holiday special! Chris, Anna, and Greg are joined by special guest Courtney Collins to talk about her pick, Just Friends. This early Ryan Reynolds movie is vaguely Christmas themed, a cable classic, and is the most casually homophobic and structurally fatphobic movie we've watched yet! You've got Anna Farris and Julie Hagerty, though, so it's not all bad! We weigh Just Friends' heart against a feather so you don't have to, so tune in, and happy holidays!

Duration: 01:25:12Episode 29: In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale featuring Alice Ebenhoe
Nov 24, 2024Chris and Greg are joined by Alice Ebenhoe to talk about Uwe Boll's In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. Giving Germany's least successful director sixty million dollars to adapt a videogame no one played probably seemed like a good idea to someone, but watching it definitely is not. It's a fantasy film packed to the gills with a miscast cast; if you ever wanted to see Burt Reynolds play an aging king, now is your chance. We dig deep on Boll's biggest flop, so tune in, you don't want to miss it!
Duration: 01:24:10Episode 28: Spice World featuring Laura Smith
Nov 17, 2024Chris and Anna are joined by sister of the show Laura Smith to talk about the definitive Girl Power movie, Spice World! It's bubble gum pop with a feminist twist, 90's style! Does it hold up? Do you need to love the Spice Girls to love Spice World? Can you watch Spice World without falling in love with the Spice Girls? And is Girl Power gender essentialist? We report, you decide!
Duration: 01:30:43Episode 27: Joe Versus the Volcano featuring Stefa Nunes
Nov 10, 2024This week Chris and Greg welcome back Stefa Nunes to talk about the famous flop, Joe Versus the Volcano. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were certified box office gold and the definitive onscreen couple of the 90's, but their first onscreen pairing failed to capture audiences' hearts mostly by being too weird! And also, the final act is strangely, needlessly problematic and discomforting? It was the 90's, but it feels like it might have been bad, even for the 90's. We get into it and try to decide if this guilty pleasure is worth the guilt. Tune in!
Duration: 01:27:17Episode 26: Conspirators of Pleasure featuring Rebekah Rine
Nov 03, 2024Chris and Greg are joined by woman about Wichita Rebekah Rine to talk about Jan Švankmajer's ode to perversion, Conspirators of Pleasure! It's a completely dialogue-less Czech ensemble piece about six people's elaborate means of getting off. It might be a stretch to call it a bad movie, but we include it as being possibly alienatingly strange. It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is ours. Give us a listen, and we'll convince you!
Duration: 01:15:45Episode 25: The Apple featuring Justin Remer
Oct 27, 2024This week, Chris and Greg are joined by musician, author, and podcaster Justin Remer to talk about a true high watermark for bad cinema, Menahem Golan's The Apple! It's a cocaine-fueled science fiction musical adapting the book of Genesis and lampooning the music industry and is on more top ten lists of bad movies than we can shake a stick at. Come join the fun as we give our impressions of this camp classic, where the devil is gay and god is homeless. It's BIM all the way!

Duration: 01:29:57Episode 24: Phantasm II
Oct 20, 2024We wind down our Spooky Season Scare-topia with Chris's pick, Don Coscarelli's Phantasm II. The wild, weird world of Phantasm gets even wilder and weirder with Universal Studio's attempt to turn Phantasm into an 80's style horror franchise. It ultimately flopped (in part due to being released opposite Die Hard and Who Framed Roger Rabbit), but we still love it, because it's got balls! Tune in!
Duration: 01:31:46Episode 23: I Know Who Killed Me
Oct 13, 2024Our Spooky Season Scare-a-thon continues with Anna's Halloween pick, the giallo/torture porn mash-up I Know Who Killed Me! It may have been a flop upon release, quickly overshadowed by the looming specter of Lindsay Lohan's endless parade of scandals, but we argue that this film should be remembered. Not only does it have Lohan in a challenging dual role as both a good girl next door who gets her arm and leg dismembered and a stripper that never takes clothes off, but it also has Neal McDonough running around! And a lot of red and blue! Tune in...
Duration: 01:33:09Episode 22: Contamination
Oct 06, 2024It's the first episode of our Spooky Season Scare-tacular, and we're starting things off with Greg's pick, the Italian Alien knock-off, Contamination! Come join the fun as we examine this classic tale of a boy and a girl and another boy and giant green eggs with a yolk that will make you explode when you touch it. It's scary, it's gross, and it's very Italian (it has a score by Goblin), so tune in and get your Spooky Season started off right!
Duration: 01:11:46Episode 21: The World's Greatest Sinner featuring Preston Spurlock
Sep 29, 2024Chris and Anna are joined by our first ever returning guest, Preston Spurlock, to talk about Timothy Carrey's The World's Greatest Sinner. It's our election year special! As funny as it is haunting, as timeless as it is timely, and as cool as it is weird, The World's Greatest Sinner is one of the best rock n' roll films ever made (even if composer Frank Zappa disagrees). Tune in and hear us get it right, even if the critics got it wrong.

Duration: 01:20:14Episode 20: The Atomic Brain featuring Hal Johnson
Sep 22, 2024Chris, Greg, and Anna are joined this week by the author of such books as Apprentice Academy Sorcerers, Sudden Glory, and Impossible Histories (and dungeonmaster extraordinaire) Hal Johnson to talk about his favorite bad movie, The Atomic Brain (a.k.a Monstrosity). It's our first foray into the science fiction movies of the 50's, and this gothic little mad scientist chiller does not disappoint. If you want a story of an old maid trying to put her brain into the body of a beautifully built babe, this is going to be one of the best you can find!

Sep 15, 2024Chris and Greg join special guest Ryan Estrada to talk about our first ever Bollywood movie AND our first ever movie where the guest is in the movie! Aap Kaa Surroor is a romantic thriller musical starring Himesh Reshammiya as himself. The reality show judge and playback singer might be the least charismatic leading man we've ever seen! Duration: 01:36:17Episode 17: Mean Guns featuring Johan Andersen
Sep 01, 2024Chris, Greg, and Anna are joined by brother of the show, Johan Andersen to talk about Albert Pyun's high caliber classic, Mean Guns. This love song to gun violence is an all time fav for both Andersen brothers and a high watermark for Pyun, with a premise as simple as it is nasty: one hundred hitmen, three million dollars, and one prison that they can't escape. You don't want to miss it!
Duration: 01:28:30Episode 16: The Woman In Red featuring Shelly Walston
Aug 25, 2024Greg, Chris, and Anna welcome special guest Shelly Walston to talk about our first ever Academy Award winner for this week's episode! With comedy ringers like Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, and Charles Grodin, and Kelly LeBrock bringing the sex appeal, how could anyone call this movie bad? Well, tune in and find out!
Duration: 01:46:19Episode 15: Ghoulies Go To College featuring Al Bates
Aug 18, 2024This week, Chris and Greg are joined by Al Bates to talk about the definitive creature feature/frat comedy Ghoulies Go To College! We'll cover all the pranks, yanks, and generalized mayhem that made this film either really good or really bad, depending on who you ask! That's right, we've got a split panel this week, so you don't want to miss it. We even weigh in on the "talking Ghoulie" controversy! Tune In!
Duration: 01:22:46Episode 14: Troll 2 featuring Kate Bellock
Aug 11, 2024We've got another all timer this week with Claudio Fragasso's singular Troll 2. Kate Bellock picked a film that many would describe as the best worst movie ever made. In fact, it's even the subject of the documentary Best Worst Movie (which we talk about a little, too!) So tune in, Troll 2 heads, it's your week to shine!
Duration: 01:24:10Episode 13: "Manos" The Hands of Fate featuring Briar Ripley Page
Aug 04, 2024There are those out there that will tell you that "Manos" The Hands of Fate is the worst film ever made, and they have a point! We're joined by author and poet Briar Ripley Page to talk about their favorite bad movie, the MST3K classic that taught a generation how to watch bad movies. Tune in, you don't want to miss it!
Duration: 01:18:57Episode 12: Brotherhood of the Wolf featuring Gretchen Felker-Martin
Jul 28, 2024We've got our first foreign language selection and it was brought to us by the inimitable Gretchen Felker-Martin. The author of Manhunt and Cuckoo selected Christophe Gans's retelling of the tale of Beast of Gevaudan that's kind of like if they made a French version of National Treasure and Bigfoot is real and he's working for the illuminati, but it's somehow still strangely boring and long.

Jul 07, 2024This week we're joined by Merritt K to discuss John Boorman's oft misunderstood and vastly underappreciated sci-fi fairytale, Zardoz! Audiences of the day found it to be alienating and bizarre, but, granted the gift of time, our panel generally agree that it whips and is very very good. There is a giant flying stone heads that vomits a bunch of guns! Sean Connery wears red briefs, a bandolier, and waist-length braided ponytail! And it's still very good.

Jun 30, 2024Chris, Anna and Greg are joined by brother of the show, John Perleberg, to talk about his favorite bad movie, Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes. It's got thrills, chills, and stars like Patty Duke! And the kid that played Nog on Deep Space 9! In any case, this film is infamously the one with the evil lamp. But it's also so much more! Tune in!

Jun 23, 2024When we heard of Roger Corman's passing, we new we had to have a tribute to the king of the B Movies. This movie kicks an incredible amount of ass and we hope you enjoy hearing our thoughts on the matter!

Duration: 01:58:12Episode 5: Wizards featuring Noah Fulmor
Jun 09, 2024This week we've got Chris and Greg talking with Noah Fulmor about his favorite bad movie, Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. It's an animated post-apocalyptic stoner swords and sorcery adventure comedy, but don't be fooled by all the Nazi imagery; it's for kids! It's a strange picture, to be sure, but we do our best to make heads or tails of it to try to help Noah why he watched it fifty times when he was in high school.
Duration: 01:27:21Episode Four: If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? feat. Preston Spurlock
Jun 02, 2024We've brought on our first guest, artist and musician Preston Spurlock, and he brought us a real wild one! If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? is a southern evangelical anti-communist propaganda film from 1971 that adapts a sermon by a preacher named Estus Pirckle, and that is just the beginning of how wild this movie is. This one is not to be missed!

Duration: 01:09:15Episode 3: Underworld
May 26, 2024It's Anna's pick and they're going for the Vampires vs Werewolves classic: Underworld! It was the height of Matrix mania and all the world had fallen in love with wire-fu mixed with gunplay, like a vampire falling in love with a werewolf mixed with a vampire. Did you know the whole thing is a metaphor for interracial relationships? Think about it!
Duration: 01:31:30Episode 2: Live Wire
May 26, 2024We're going with one of Greg's favs this time around and it is a corker! We discuss the value in taking a very silly premise very seriously as Pierce Brosnan is a bomb disposal technician, tasked with taking down a group of terrorists targeting US Senators with water that can make them explode. Like the tagline said, water isn't ALWAYS safe!
