Fair warning, just like Season 1 of Goblin Slayer, there is a fair amount of gore and some potentially triggering scenes dealing with trauma and PTSD so go in knowing this! This week was a solo episode unfortunately, Artsy was sick but I did get her rating afterwards! For a DC dive into anime, this was a very good one to go into. While Harley is again the most obvious true main character, some of the other characters really steal the show like Clayface. His version is this is easily my favorite version ever. This week we wrapped up the full Season 1 of Oshi no Ko, and gotta say episodes 2-11 were great! While we did enjoy the worldbuilding and setup of the movie that was episode 1, the rest of the episodes just raised the bar and delving into how the siblings handle their loss is well done along with the handling of other big issues like online bullying.

Well we finished the Apothecary Diaries S1 and not a day too soon since season 2 airs when this drops! Part 2 really answered alot of questions, even questions we didn't even know we had! We learn alot more about our main characters MaoMao and Jinshi, and while we do have a few unanswered questions, the ending wrapped up nicely. We are very excited for Season 2! Apologies guys, between weather and tech issues, this episode had issues coming out but it finally is! We watched this movie and it was definitely interesting. The world building and lore that was brought out definitely kind of sucks you into the world, but some of the characters can be slightly annoying. Listen in to what we thought!

This week you get two episodes, apologies on this late upload! Short version, had some personal stuff pop up but we got it handled! On to the anime, Kaiju number 8! We follow mainly Hibino, Kafka, a 32 year old man who always wanted to join the Defense Force but never passed. Also, another major character is his trainee/partner from the cleaning job named Ichikawa, Reno. We follow them through trying to join the force while also hiding a major secret, that Kafka is a kaiju himself! Next episode we will be reviewing another recent one, Solo Leveling!

This week we reviewed Jack's from Featured Anime Podcast recommendation, 2016's Keijo!!!!! I had purposefully dodged this anime because of every clip I had seen being super ecchi. This week we reviewed 2018's movie I Want to Eat Your Pancreas where we follow a nameless mc for the most part and our female lead named Sakura. If you are looking for an enjoyable story, character development, and a trip into the feels then this movie is definitely for you. Even outside of that, I would recommend this to still be on your list of too watch anime!

This week we wrapped up Trigun Stampede and just like we thought, we enjoyed the last 6 episodes more, me much more and Artsy a little more! The breakdown Knives and Vash's history was done well, and finally seeing Vash stand up for himself was very enjoyable to see. This week's episode we reviewed 2006's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and, it was something for sure! We follow Makoto through the movie as she realizes that she can jump back in time and how she uses this new found power for her benefit while slowly coming to know that her benefit might cause other people harm.

This week's episode was on 2010's The Secret World of Arrietty and it was a very nice and welcome surprise. Generally, we aren't huge fans of the craziness with faces and animation that usually comes with Ghibli, but this one actually kind of resonated with us. The visuals are beautiful like always, but the detail in how the borrowers move around and live was very cool to see.

This week's choice was 2023's Shangri-La Frontier follows our main character Rakurou Hizutome, or Sunraku as his ign. He takes a break from his hobby of playing trash games to play the god game known as SLF, or Shangri-La Frontier. I do remember at first not being interested when I saw the trailer of this anime, but I can definitely say I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out!

I know, this episode is a week late and we apologize! Short version, we had technical difficulties for a week and a half but now everything is fixed and we are back on schedule! Buddy Daddies was a recommendation from Mark, and man was it a surprise; Artsy and I were not expecting it to turn out the way it did but we were thoroughly engaged. This week Artsy and I jumped back into the world of Mashle, and man was it fun! Season 2 of Mashle is definitely more focused than the first one as it mainly follows Mash on his journey/trials while taking the Divine Visionary Exam parts. Apologies for the late upload on this one, had some issues with the editing of it. This episode was a random pick by yours truly, 2019's Promare. This movie was about individuals fighting other individuals who have fire powers and like to set things ablaze, and one firefighter whose soul is always on fire to put fires out! This week we reviewed Mark's recommendation of Netflix's My Happy Marriage and were even lucky enough to have him join on the episode! This anime tackles emotional trauma in a very well-written and real way; it makes you hate the abusers and really feel for Miyo, the main character, as she struggles with her confidence and self-worth. I highly recommend this anime if you are looking for a nice love story with some interesting subplots!

This week Artsy and I reviewed Studio Ghibli's From Up on Poppy Hill. This movie came out back in 2011 and is classified as a romance/drama movie set in 1963 Yokohama Japan. Artsy and I were both hesitant since our first review of Ghibli was....something, but this was a much more enjoyable experience! This week was my random choice of 2009's movie Summer Wars, and if you read the title of the episode then you kind of already know how we felt about it haha. The story revolves around two main characters, Kenji a math genius who has no experience with girls, and Natsuki who has hired Kenji to be her fake boyfriend. While this family drama is happening, there is drama going on in the cyberworld known as OZ where every infrastructure has basically been integrated. This week Artsy and I dove into the fantasy world of 2018's Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms. The simplest way to describe this movie is a tale of two coming of age stories: one of a baby boy into a man, and one of an "ageless" young elf-like woman into a caregiver and mature woman. This week we jumped back into the world of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, AKA Anos does whatever the heck he wants! Season 2 thought definitely is much more story oriented than Season 1. If you liked the randomness and overpowered outlandish things Anos did in the first season, just know there are alot less moments of that this time, but they are still there and still hilarious! This season definitely wants to get your brain thinking/guessing and get the feels going in the later episodes. Listen in to hear more on what we thought!

This week we were blessed with another Makoto Shinkai creation called Suzume. Suzume shares alot with his previous creation, Your Name as it has amazing visuals, great sound design, and an interesting story. That being said, it didn't hit all the aspects as perfectly as Your Name in our opinion, but was a very enjoyable movie nonetheless; listen in to hear just exactly what we thought and why we think you should watch it!

This week we reviewed 2019's Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious. This was a huge change of pace and vibe from the last few weeks of the Evergarden-verse! This week Artsy and I cover the 2020 movie Violet Evergarden: The Movie and man did it hit hard even on the rewatch. We both remembered it was emotional, but we didn't remember just how impactful the emotional scenes were. This movie is a beautiful wrap up to the series and special, it sows the growth of Violet in a very real and raw way, it has different individuals reconcile, and unfortunately shows some experiencing loss. This week Artsy and I did a slight switch up, we originally were going to do the OVA and first movie together but after watching the OVA we realized it deserved its own episode. The OVA falls in-between episodes 4 and 5, going to Iris' family and the love letters between kingdoms. We are back in the Princess Principal world and glad to be! Chapter 2 was a welcome movie after finishing Desert Punk and the build up from Chapter 1 started paying off here! This week we watched 2017's No Game No Life Zero and it was an enjoyable revisit for me and a good first watch for Jess (Artsy). Seeing the origins for what is described in the anime was nice to see, but you do not need to watch the anime to enjoy this movie!
