While girlhood is cozy and emotional, boyhood is frought with peril.

This 2018 Dramedy stars Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Isabela Merced, Octavia Spencer and Tig Notaro. We deep dive into the lives of two DINK, house flippers who have decided that what they need in life is... Chaos. Coming from 2 parents, going from 0 kids to 1 kid is rough. Going from 0 kids to 3 kids overnight is insanity. Throw in the fact that you skip a bunch of years and they already have personalities that you don't know. Not just that, but these kids have had it ROUGH, so they're understandably a little skeptical. Parenting can be challenging, foster parenting is a gauntlet.  Duration: 01:03:41

In one of the best movies every created, this week we dive into The Prestige. Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlet Johanson, Michael Caine, Piper Perabo....and David Bowie. This fantasy/adventure film is a tale of magic, deception, sacrifice, mystery, love and a little bit of crime drama. It's a woeful 19th century cautionary tale of not trusting ANYONE, maybe double checking the woods and don't cheat on your (?) wife. Like we said, it's perfect. Any other take is fake news. 

Are you totally happily married and wondering what it's like dating in 2025? Same, but let us tell you folks, it's rough out there. It's a steady stream of ghosts, unsolicited dick pics and murders. You think you find a nice guy and BAM, he wears the same shoe size as The Swipe Right Killer. Or he DOESN'T HAVE FINGER PRINTS. It's a minefield of red flags. We deep dive into this Romantic Crime Comedy, starring Lucy Hale, JayR Tinaco, Brooke Nevin, and Bethany Brown as they help to catch a serial killer and get their friend laid. 

Our first animated film and we picked a banger with Shrek. Featuring the voices of Michael Meyer, Cameron Diaz and Eddy Murphy, DreamWorks really did something here. Magical Creatures, romance, adventure and a mother fucking dragon??? SOLD. We so have some lingering questions though....How old Shrek and Fiona? What's that age gap? Do age gaps matter when one is a magical creature? 

Rose puts aside her Nicolas Cage ick once more for this 2004 National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha. This deep dive really shows how much people grow and change. 2004 us: Ben MUST protect the Declaration of Independence from Ian, because 'Merica. 2025 us: I mean, Ian was just gonna borrow it, its not that big of a deal. Also, Ben seasoned it up with a hair dryer and lemon juice....so... does he really care THAT much? 

Taking it back for some 90's nostalgia, we recap Clueless this week. Starring Alicia Silverstone. The clothes, the absurdity, the lack of adult supervision, it's a vibe, so fun... Until you start doing the math on that age gap. Once again math ruins everything. 

This week, we deep dive into an 80's acid trip. Starring David Bowie (and his bulge, as an unpaid actor) and Jennifer Connelly. This movie is a childhood favorite for Courtney. A repeat flier at the Goblin King's castle. Explaining this movie as an adult, led us to a ton of questions about Jareth's suitability to care for a child, even in the short term. 

George Clooney stars in this post-apocalyptic, psychological.... Thriller? Something has gone down on earth, we never find out what, but something bad. Luckily, they have an escape planet, but they sort of vetted it too late. Earth is dying, a space ship is en route back home with no safe place to go. We're confused, they're confused. 

We take it back to middle school in this week's deep dive, with Tuck Everlasting. Starring Alexis Bledel and Johnathan Jackson. Picture it, Virginia, the year 2000, pre 9/11, your dealer (librarian) hits you with this sweet little ditty. Kidnapping, LUST (or is it love?), immortals, deceit, defiant teenagers. It changes the trajectory of your life. Nothing its quite the same for years. You chase that high within the pages of dozens...DOZENS of book. Finally, you can't stand it anymore, you commit your first crime, you steal that middle school's library book. You have it currently, 25 years later. 

With Anna Kendrick's directorial debut, we deep dive into this 2023 based on a true story thriller, Woman of The Hour. Starring Anna Kendrick, Autumn Best and Daniel Zovatto. This is a tale as old as time- good looking man turn out to be a serial killer who is too emotional and eventually bested by a woman who played his game better than him. Two women actually, the one who got away and the one who put him away. 

After years of putting it off (and for WHAT?) we finally deep dive into this cult classic, The Princess Bride. Starring Cary Elwes, Robin Wright and Mandy Patinkin. We... Loved it. The DRAMA, the BETRAYAL, the SASS, the ACTION, the romance. Ok, so the romance isn't the point here. And this DID take place a long time ago, so we can't blame Buttercup for not seeing the red flag. She didn't know to be looking for them.

After all the fan fare regarding Baby Girl, we decided WE too wanted to a part of it. This 2024 Erotic Thriller stars Nicole Kidman, Antonio Banderas, Harris Dickinson and Sophie Wilde. The cinematography, the acting A+, 10/10. The storyline? Didn't hit the way we thought it would. At the end of the day, he's STILL AN INTERN and YOU'RE STILL HIS BOSS... Like yeah, he's a snack and half. But... perhaps there were better options out there babes. 

This recap, we apologize to Suzanne Collins for still believing young Snow is an absolute snack. This 2023 film is based of a novel by the same title. Set in the early years of the Hunger Games universe, our MC is none other than President Snow... as a teen. You may be thinking to yourself, this is his villain origin story, I'm going to find out WHO caused Snow to be the way he is. And you're right, you will. But there is no empathy here. This episode we deep dive into this 1994 classic, starring Tom Hanks, Sally Field and Robin Wright. Watching this movie as a adult, definitely changes some perspective. For a man who was considered 'the local idiot', Forest did more with his life than Rose and Courtney put together. The layer of historical presence woven into Forest's tale is **chef's kiss**. Not to mention the little jokes that we never noticed as kids. Sadly, it also brought one along the startling realization that Jenny may very well be the villain here. 

Our recap this week is an OG tale of Girlbossing to the max, starring Julia Roberts as a badass paralegal. This based on a true story movie is a cautionary tale of why Attorneys should listen to their paralegals more often (speaking from past experience here). Erin literally got in the trenches for her clients, AND THATS WHATS UP. 

This week's recap stars Jenna Ortega as a child cosplaying adult games with actual adults. Sure she's 18, but I think we can all agree that 18 year olds are honorary adults at best. To be honest, even the adults in this movie don't act like it, we got two almost pedophiles, an alcoholic author and parents who thought it would be a good idea to leave their mentally unwell daughter home alone in their historic mansion while they went... Somewhere? 

We're really loving the nostalgia lately. This week's deep dive features a delightfully young Dakota Fanning and the forever quirky Brittney Murphy. Courtney and Rose again realize that the love interest in these Rom-Coms are just NPCs for a subplot that doesn't even matter. The men were actually wholly unnecessary. Which tracks, if we're being honest.

We deep dive right back into some nostalgia with this weeks recap and revisit the fresh into the Millenia classic, Miss Congeniality. Starring Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, William Shatner and Candice Bergen. 

Sandra is always a vibe. We're never mad about it. However, this movie is very late 90's early 2000's. Girl needs a makeover so boy sees her for HER. But this girl has a gun. Several actually. Because this is America. 

On this weeks deep dive we recap Wish You Were Here, a movie based on the novel by Renee Carlino AND Julie Styles directorial debut. Yes, that Julie Styles, we checked. Courtney is a big fan of this tragic tale of love and losing, and Renee Carlino in general. Would you throw yourself into a doomed, short term relationship just to end up heartbroken in the end? Charlotte sure does. Maybe it was the dumplings, maybe it was smile, who knows. 

This week's deep dive is psych thriller, starring Anna Kendrick. Our hot take, psych thriller are scarier than regular thrillers. And what's more terrifying than a mentally abusive man that everyone loves? Imagine telling your friends that the perfect guy you're dating is terrible. Not only that, he's so good at it, that you think your the problem. He's gotten so far into your head that YOU look crazy. 

Cameron Diaz returns to acting with Jamie Foxx in this week's recap.  They go from banging their CIA partners (each other, duh) to beating the shit out of creepy dudes in clubs hitting in their teenage daughter. It's been about 15 years, but they still got it. And blow their cover in the process. Spy comedies are always a good time, and this one is no different. 

CIA training is like riding a bike... right? 

On this week's recap we serenade you with the tale of Juicy Mummy, Brendan Fraser and Katherine Weiss. A 90's masterpiece outlining the classic trope of boy meets girl, girl saves boy from being hanged, boy takes girl to mythical land and together the awaken Juicy Mummy and must work together to save the world. A perfect love story. 

Did we mention 1998 Brenden Fraser in his floppy hair era? 

This recap of Drew Barrymore's directorial debut starring Elliot Page is a dangerous one for Rose and Court. The vibes, the aesthetics, the rage- it made us think we too, could be Roller Derby Girls. We can't, for the record. But we adored this coming of age film. As former 17 year old girls AND as women who are... No longer 17. 

Its been the age old December question: is Die Hard a Christmas movie? We're happy to announce that we're not here to answer that for you. We ARE however here to recap this 1988 classic starring Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman. This was a first watch for both Rose and Courtney... We wanted to drag this movie, because we like to be haters sometimes... But there isn't much to drag. Except our jaws off the floor while gawking at Brucey's biceps. We're unwell. Send help. 

Musicals aren't Roses thing, so in preparation for her to watch the movie, Court recaps Wicked (The Play) to her. But musicals aren't musicals without music...

Swimming in a little bit of nostalgia with this weeks recap of Two Weeks Notice. Starring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant. We get he's hot, he's British for some reason, he rich AF... But girl, he doesn't want a girlfriend, he wants a mommy. And not in the kinky way. He wants a legit mother. You're an m-effing attorney. You have a whole ass law degree and you STILL got dickmatized. Its ok, it happens to the best of us. And at the end of the day, you're still Sandra Bullock. 

Taking it way back with a Tim Burton classic, Edward Scissor Hands. Starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. This proves that white women really WILL try to rescue any. And reminds us that MLM's are not millennial hell device, they've been been around for a long time. 

Also, Johnny Depp in leather. With scissor hands. For some fucking reason. 

Rounding off October with this flouncy, early 2000's number we recap Ella Enchanted. Starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Fancy, Minnie Driver and Vivica Fox. 

It's fun, it's medieval, it's... modern? You'll see what we mean. Ella is way too smart to have gone 17 years with this curse. We literally spent 3 hours with her curse and came up with like 15 loopholes. But we'll forgive it, because without it she wouldn't have got her golden retriever, almost man bun having Prince/King. 

In the spirit of spooky season, we recap this fantasy masterpiece starring Hugh Jackman (who Courtney didn't recognize by face, but by Jawline). There's a lot going on here and honestly, what's not to love? You got your monsters, your fairy tales, your religious trauma and your morally corrupt murderous angelic man (maybe still angel?). Plus, there is a man bun. Oh, there's a plot too. But that's less important than the man bun tbh. 

A recap of purely (pun intended) girly things. Summoning a demon, the mother of demons to be more specific, at an ALT right purity camp. These girls really saw an opportunity to say 'we're just girls' and said bet, summoning Lilith and taking vengence. Jahkara Smith, McKaley Miller, Ciara Bravo, Annalisa Cochrane are an absolute delight, while Scott Porter and Jim Klock are... well, there. Mayor Paul (Ginny and Georgia reference) would never do this to us, but Pastor Seth definitely would, and does. 

Oh. My. God. A Sci-Fi movie where no one had to have sex with an alien? We are totally down for this recap starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt that centers around, wait for it, FATE. We think. Like if we had to name it, we'd name it Fate. This movie is the perfect example of 'if he wanted to, he would.' Because Matt Damon wanted to, and he did. More than once. And that chemistry? Give it an EGOT.  

Gen Z is finally getting their YA movie mania. Or, sorta. They got this one. This singular movie. Starring Joey King, Laverne Cox, Keith Power, Chase Stokes and Brianne Tju, we deep dive into this dystopian hell where you're insecurities are highlighted. But don't worry, when you turn 16, before you can drive a car, you get to consent to major plastic surgery and change anything you want about your appearance. Not only do you GET to, you're required to. The other option is living in the woods with a bunch of Uglies who are objectively hotter that the Pretties.  Duration: 01:06:18

Starring Ed Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter we recap this cult classic that starred in the fantasies of teenage boys (and some adult men) for years. We understand that this movie was made for men, by men. And it shows. No follow up questions, blind following into violence, not a secretary or assistant in sight but magically things are getting done. Hell, someone is even filing. This movie is the epitome of a man's spank bank- beating the shit out of each other instead of going to therapy. 

Everyone was talking about this...Tennis movie? Starring Mike Faist, Josh O'Connor and Zendaya. We had to check it out and see what all the rave was about. Tennis, by default, is kind of a boring sport, but we were seated during this recap. SEATED. Tashi, played by Zendaya, is toxic AF here. A true homewrecker of this bromance. A manipulator of men. We ain't mad about it either. She's a player playing players. 

The YA book to movie adaptation boom wouldn't have been complete without hot teenage alien chosen ones. This movie goes hard on that trope. We're left with a lot of lingering questions, but our inner teenagers are satisfied. 

These two really did too much. It was 2007, not 1807. They didn't have to get married cause they fell victim to tequila shots and got pregnant. It was modern times, my loves. Their relationship honestly sounds like the beginning to a bad a joke, but like in a genuinely funny way? 

Starring Katherine Heigel, Seth Rogan, Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd this week's deep dive recaps the 2007 Rom Com, Knocked Up. 

The American Hustle recap is a wild ride. Con men, check. Con WOMEN, check. The Mafia, check. The FBI, check. Jeremy Renner, doing everything perfectly, check. We're not saying we should let the Mafia run the government, but if they wanna build sidewalks and create jobs... maybe let them? Was it real? Psycho Path or Delusions of Grandeur? Both? This weeks recap takes on the 2000 thriller, American Psycho, starring Christian Bale, William Dafoe and Reese Whiterspoon. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejui- shut up. Don't say it girly. Yeah, he's kinda hot in that dirty way, but he's gonna ruin your life. He's gonna try to kill your dad and force you into marriage.
